God Revealed in Mark

In fall of 2026, Pastor Ryan preached a sermon series on three pivotal scenes in the Gospel of Mark that reveal big insights about God.

The series was inspired by the fourth chapter of a book called Who Is God?: Key Moments of Biblical Revelation, by Richard Bauckham.

  • September 20 – Baptism of Jesus (Mark 1:9-11)
  • September 27 – Transfiguration of Jesus (Mark 9:2-8)
  • October 4 – Roman Centurion’s Confession at the Death of Jesus (Mark 15:37-39)

Mark’s gospel begins with John the Baptist and the baptism of Jesus. Nothing is said about Jesus before this. So when God’s voice sounds and says that he is please with Jesus, what is he referring to? And what does this reveal to us about God?
