Argyle Road – Events

young boy delighted to be holding his Bible in the sunshine

Our Summer Kids Program runs from June 28 to September 6. Children from age 3 to grade 6 will gather in the Godly Play room to watch a video and do activities. On September 13 our worship service will be out at camp. Regular children’s programs begin at the church on September 20.

If your children or youth (ages 2 to Grade 12) plan to attend Sunday morning programs at Argyle, please register them. You can do it online or on a paper form, available at the back of the sanctuary. Note that if you have registered your child in a previous year, you only need to update the online form, not fill it all in again. Thanks for helping us keep your children and young adults safe and appropriately cared for.

The storage rooms in our church were recently cleaned out, and we found a whole lot of things we no longer need! They will be on display in the church library until next Sunday, September 6, so come and check them out. Take what you like. Anything left will be donated.

Our church is going to Katepwa Lake Camp on the weekend of September 11-13! Accommodations are available in cabins or the lodge, or on the grounds if you want to bring a tent or a trailer. Details are on the paper registration forms in the sanctuary and on the online form. Talk to Katherine V or Debbie P with questions, ideas, or to volunteer. The last day to register is Sunday September 6. Please note that this is for our church family, not just people with young children. Everyone of every age is welcome to come.

There are lots of ways to use your gifts out at camp. Here are two lists so you can see some of the possibilities. The first one is all about food (cooking, helping cook, bringing food etc.) and the second one is everything else. If you have another idea, talk to Katherine or Debbie. They love ideas!

Our worship service on September 13 will be out at the camp. You don’t need to register unless you want to come early and have breakfast there ($10 per person). Otherwise, just come! Here is a Google map with directions to the camp.

Our kids’ summer programming continues until September 6. The following week, our service is out at camp. Our regular season programs kick off on Sunday September 20.

Pastor Ryan’s Sunday morning Bible study will resume on September 20 in the church library with a dive into the book of Ecclesiastes.

On Wednesday September 23 at 7 pm, our church will be hosting an evening presentation and conversation by the Canadian Bible Society on the topic of “Do Canadian Christians Read and Engage the Bible?” It will be based on the results of a recent survey by Cardus and the Angus Reid Foundation. Other churches have been invited and we will provide refreshments.

Help Wanted Section

Thanks to everyone who volunteers with our ministries! We believe that God provides each of us with gifts we are to use to build up his church. Talk to Pastor Ryan if you would like to explore how you can be involved in the opportunities below or in any other way.

Many thanks to everyone who has signed up to mow the lawn this summer! The schedule is mostly full, but there are still a couple of spots open in the fall if you are able to help. The key to the shed is in the office, so come in during the day or call the office to arrange to pick it up.

Our wonderful decorating volunteer is no longer in Regina, so we need someone (or a group of someones) to change the sanctuary decorations each season. If you can help, talk to Pastor Ryan.

Opportunities to Serve

Our church joins First Baptist Church four times a year in preparing and serving lunches to hungry people downtown. As part of the Sandwich Outreach, we also donate useful items such as disposable razors, band-aids, soap, toothbrushes, laundry detergent, feminine hygiene supplies, toilet paper, warm mitts and socks, and so on. There is a donation bin at the back of the church to collect the items for next time. Thank you for your generosity.
