Pastor Ryan’s sermon “Burning Passion” talks about how the risen Jesus’ explanations about the scriptures burned in the hearts of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. Do our hearts burn within us when we read scripture? What can we do to (re-)ignite the flame?

Pastor Ryan’s sermon “Who Will Move the Stone?” talks about the stone that blocked the women’s access to the tomb on Easter morning when they went to prepare Jesus’ body for burial, not knowing yet that he had risen. What is the stone in our own lives that keeps us from following Jesus, and how will it be moved aside?

Pastor Ryan’s Advent series for 2023 sermon is called “And He Will Be Called…”. It is based on the names given to the Messiah in the O Antiphons, a set of prayers from the early church liturgy that is best known to us in the verses of the carol “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. He looks at the four verses in the hymnal that we use, one for each of the Sundays in Advent.
