Advent, the four weeks before Christmas, is a season to reflect on the amazing gift of Jesus to us: God, the creator of all that is, humbled Himself to become a human baby and subject Himself to all the confusion and woe that we have to contend with. He did it out of pure love for us, to draw us to himself. Here are some resources that can inspire your reflections on this amazing truth.

The CBWC has a set of Advent Resources on their website.

Biola University’s Center for Christianity, Culture and the Arts has daily Advent devotionals with Scripture, a poem, a devotional and a musical selection. You can read them on their website or subscribe to have them sent to your inbox each day. (The calendar entries show up one by one on the days of Advent and are blank until then.) You can access previous years’ devotionals by changing the year at the end of the URL when you get to their site.

Lutheran Hour Ministries has daily Advent devotionals in English, Chinese, French, and Spanish. You can read them on the website or subscribe to have them delivered to your inbox.
From The Bible Project, a series of short videos explaining the Biblical meanings of our four Advent words: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.

Steve Bell has written a reflective book on Advent as part of his Pilgrim Year Series, and you can listen to the audio version on his website. You can also listen to the songs he wrote that go with the book.

Rotation.org has a wealth of free family-friendly Advent activities and videos that you can use at home with your children! Find them on their website.

“Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” – these are the titles Isaiah ascribed to the coming Messiah. Read how they apply to Jesus, and find more resources to go deeper at Focus on the Family.

Focus on the Family is offering a free Christmas devotional for you and your children. The All the Colors of Christmas Devotional is designed to help parents lead their family through the Advent season and teach their kids about the great story of God introducing Jesus to the world.
