1st Scripture Lesson: Opening Meditation
1 “Is anyone thirsty?
Come and drink—
even if you have no money!
Come, take your choice of wine or milk—
it’s all free!
2 Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength?
Why pay for food that does you no good?
Listen to me, and you will eat what is good.
You will enjoy the finest food.
3 “Come to me with your ears wide open.
Listen, and you will find life.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you.
I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.
4 See how I used him to display my power among the peoples.
I made him a leader among the nations.
5 You also will command nations you do not know,
and peoples unknown to you will come running to obey,
because I, the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, have made you glorious.”

Exalted be my God, the rock of my salvation. ~ 2 Samuel 22:47

What a huge rock is in that picture! If you tried to push it over, do you think you could? Do you think you could move it to another place on the beach? Do you think the wind or rain can knock it over? No? I don’t either.
Our verse today says that God is like the rock in the picture. No one is stronger than he is. No one and nothing can move him or knock him down. “Salvation” means saving, and God does that too. He sent his son Jesus to save us from being alone and from doing things that hurt us and others. “Exalt” means to lift someone up high so you can honor them.
Here is how the Contemporary English Version of the Bible translates this verse: “You are a mighty rock. I will honor you for keeping me safe.” Let’s do that this week.
Our Father, thank you that you sent Jesus to save us and keep us safe. Thank you that you are big and strong and that no one can push you around, because that means that I can trust you completely. I praise you for being my solid rock. Amen
2nd Scripture Lesson:
Romans 9:1-5 (NLT) ; 羅 馬 書 9:1-5 (CUVS)
9 With Christ as my witness, I speak with utter truthfulness. My conscience and the Holy Spirit confirm it. 2 My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief 3 for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them. 4 They are the people of Israel, chosen to be God’s adopted children. God revealed his glory to them. He made covenants with them and gave them his law. He gave them the privilege of worshiping him and receiving his wonderful promises. 5 Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are their ancestors, and Christ himself was an Israelite as far as his human nature is concerned. And he is God, the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
我 在 基 督 里 说 真 话 , 并 不 谎 言 , 有 我 良 心 被 圣 灵 感 动 , 给 我 作 见 证 ;
2 我 是 大 有 忧 愁 , 心 里 时 常 伤 痛 ;

3rd Scripture Lesson
Psalm 145:8-9, 14-21 (NLT) ; 詩 篇 145:8-9, 14-21 (CUVS)
8 The Lord is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
9 The Lord is good to everyone.
He showers compassion on all his creation.
14 The Lord helps the fallen
and lifts those bent beneath their loads.
15 The eyes of all look to you in hope;
you give them their food as they need it.
16 When you open your hand,
you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness.
18 The Lord is close to all who call on him,
yes, to all who call on him in truth.
19 He grants the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cries for help and rescues them.
20 The Lord protects all those who love him,
but he destroys the wicked.
21 I will praise the Lord,
and may everyone on earth bless his holy name
forever and ever.

4th Scripture Lesson
13 As soon as Jesus heard the news, he left in a boat to a remote area to be alone. But the crowds heard where he was headed and followed on foot from many towns. 14 Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15 That evening the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.”
16 But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.”
17 “But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!” they answered.
18 “Bring them here,” he said. 19 Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people. 20 They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers. 21 About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children!
