1 Peter 1:13-16

1 Peter 1:13-16 (NLT) ; 彼 得 前 書 1:13-16 (CUVS)

13 So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

Responsive Prayer

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for the promise of your return.

Your first arrival was to earth as a babe.  Your second coming will be as King.  At your return every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that you are Lord.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for the hope of Your salvation.

You redeemed my soul– I crossed over from darkness to light, from despair to hope, from brokenness to healing.  You have given me eternal life through Jesus Christ.  The troubles of this world are not forever but are producing for me an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  I praise you and thank you that I will be a part of Your kingdom and glory.

Thank you, Father, that You have made me a new person in Christ.

Help me to focus my mind and heart on what is true and honorable, right and pure, excellent and worthy of praise.  May my attitudes and actions be a reflection of Your character in loving my neighbors and bringing You glory.

Thank you, Father, that our holiness does not depend on us.

I have sinned and fallen short of your glory.  But you chose me in Christ to be holy and without fault in Your eyes.  When I fail You – You are ready to forgive and restore me back to You.  I am made right with You because of faith in Your son, Jesus Christ.

O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in all of heaven above or on the earth below. You keep your covenant and show unfailing love to all who walk before you in wholehearted devotion.

Amen.
